If you're looking for a testosterone booster, then chances are you've heard of Nugenix. It might just be the most heavily advertised and marketed natural testosterone booster out in the market today.
Nugenix makes a number of different products including testosterone boosters, prostate support, estrogen regulator, and a multi-vitamin. This review will focus specifically on the Nugenix Free Testosterone Booster product.
The strangest thing to me in reviewing this product was the fact that there was literally no information on Nugenix website about this product other than an ingredients label that I had to find and then click on to actually see it.
So what makes Nugenix so popular? It must have a collection of the most powerful high quality ingredients proven to boost testosterone and a legion of happy and satisfied men who have experienced all the benefits of their testosterone levels increasing, right?
Why else would this test booster be so popular?
That's why we do the review, as they say!
Let's take a quick snapshot look at the pros and cons of the product.
Let's take a look under the covers of this product, and see what we can determine about the ingredients.
After looking over the ingredients label, my first impression was that of disappointment. How could a testosterone booster be this popular with these ingredients?
Weren't people looking at the same ingredients label as I was?
Was it really just about the marketing and the fact that you can see this product even advertised on TV, which makes people believe it?
Here's are the reasons why I was disappointed:
The best testosterone boosters have at least 10 or more proven testosterone boosting ingredients.
It was disappointing enough to see that there were only six total ingredients, but depending on the ingredients and dosages, it could still be a good product.
After further examination, I saw that there were only four ingredients that were proven testosterone boosters. Disappointment started to set in.
Well, this sounded pretty impressive and worthy of attention. This is the part of the Nugenix formula that supposedly contains the real testosterone boosting muscle of the Nugenix T booster.
This "complex" is made up of three ingredients:
So the testosterone boosting muscle of this product only had three ingredients, of which, just one was a proven testosterone booster? Disappointment firming up.
Fenugreek: Known and used throughout the world for a variety of different beneficial health functions, including increased sexual performance (libido) and boosting testosterone. Well, that's good! I wonder how much Fenugreek is in this booster. More on this in a minute.
L-Citrulline Malate: Mostly beneficial by increasing Nitric Oxide through the blood. A common ingredient in products that address issues with the quality of erections. This is a nice complementary ingredient with it's own benefits, but it's not a testosterone booster.
Tribulus Terrestris: This used to be a common test boosting ingredient. It definitely has science-based proof that says this product is a nice libido enhancer, but unfortunately, there's not data that says it boosts testosterone in men. Again, it's a nice enhancement ingredient to add to a test booster because usually a sagging sex drive is one of the effects of Low T, but it's a testosterone booster.
Remember how I wondered how much Testofen (Fenugreek) was in the Free Testosterone Complex? Since it was the only ingredient in the complex that was proven to boost testosterone, I thought it would be important to know how much of that was included since dosage levels are a key factor in the effectiveness of any supplement, but especially testosterone boosters.
Turns out the Nugenix Free Testosterone Complex is what's called a proprietary blend. That means they will tell you the name of the ingredients you're putting into your body, but they won't tell you the amount of each individual ingredient.
They give you one umbrella dosage amount, and in this case, that's 2,103 mg. How that 2,103 mg is divided up among the three ingredients in the blend is "secret". The one and only proven test boosting ingredient in the blend could represent 2,100 mg of Testofen, or it could represent 1mg, in which case, then even the one test boosting ingredient would be basically worthless. Do you see why I'm frustrated and disappointed with this booster?
Companies that use proprietary blends say they do this because they don't want to give away their secret concoction of ingredients. Really? You're already listing the ingredients which is the essence of your secret concoction.
Let me ask you this. If you had to choose between two products that had exactly the same ingredients, except one one product showed how much of each ingredient you were going to put into your body while the other one kept it secret, which product would you choose?
All three of our top rated testosterone boosters this year show ALL the dosage levels of every ingredient. In fact, most of the testosterone boosters we review show all the individual ingredient dosages.
Proprietary blends make it so hard to review a product because you have no idea how much of an ingredient you're getting. Dosage levels are critically important in evaluating T boosters. Blends also are hard on the consumer too. It put you in the position of having to roll the dice and hope you lucked and got a product that just happened to have powerful doses of the proven ingredients.
Since we're on the subject of dosages, the Nugenix testosterone booster did give us the ingredient dosages of 3 out of the 6 ingredients.
The good news is that the three ingredients Nugenix did tell us about the dosages, were proven testosterone boosting ingredients.
Vitamin B6 & B12 and Zinc are known good ingredients. Especially Zinc!
Now the bad news again, and this is why you want to know the dosage levels of every ingredient; the dosage levels were more than disappointing.
2 mg of Vitamin B6? One of our top 3 has 27x times this amount of B6!
1 mg of Zinc? One of our top 3 has 74x this amount of zinc in their formulation!
Nugenix, why did you even tell us the dosage levels of these three ingredients if they were going to be that low? Why didn't you just put all the ingredients under the shroud of a proprietary blend then?
None of this makes any sense to me, and I'm still left scratching my head as to why this product has been so popular.
Maybe I'm just missing something and the customer reviews and testimonials are off the charts, and there are legions of raving fans of this product? Let's check that out.
One of the best places to go to read customer feedback and testimonials is on Amazon. Since you can purchase the product on Amazon, I checked out the feedback.
Here's what I learned. There were 616 total reviews given and this product got an average of 3.5 Stars. That's not bad - it's slightly better than average. It looks like users either really liked it or they hated it. There wasn't a lot of middle ground.
Here's a sampling of some of the comments I cut and pasted. I didn't reorder them or hand-pick individual comments. I basically just took a screenshot.
Well, first of all, I have not personally tried this product. It's more than difficult for me to purchase a product that I'm going to ingest into my body without knowing exactly how much of anything I'm getting.
To answer the question of whether it works or not, I look at the ingredients, and I see that it only has four proven testosterone boosters whereas the top testosterone boosters have 10 or more. Then I look at the dosage levels and I see that three out of the four boosting ingredients are underdosed and the the last ingredient includes no dosage information whatsoever. None of that looks very good for this product.
The one ray of light for this product is the fact that it got at least slightly above average reviews from real customers that have used the product.
Let me answer the question at hand with another question instead.
Why would you WANT to try it when there are testosterone boosters that are SO MUCH BETTER?
Better ingredients, more ingredients, no shrouded secrets, phenomenal market reviews, and raving customer testimonials. Aren't those all the things that we're looking for when looking for the best testosterone boosters?
However, if you have your heart set on trying Nugenix, you can easily purchase it from Amazon. Just click below, and it'll take you right to it.
Nugenix does offer a free 14-day trial, but BE CAREFUL because you need to know that by accepting the free trial you are getting auto-enrolled into a monthly subscription. From what I've read from customer testimonials this really made some guys mad and it also didn't seem like the easiest thing in the world to cancel.
For me, there were just too many shortcomings I couldn't mentally overcome with this product to get excited about recommending it.
I wanted to find out what was so special about this product that has made it so popular. I was hoping that it would be because it had the best combination of proven and potent ingredients.
Turns out it's probably because Nugenix has some smart people in the marketing department instead.
